Loras College’s social work program is hosting Hoops and Fences
on March 24, 2014, in the Alumni Campus Center, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will feature a training session led by Kristen Faisal from the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Faisal has been the state trainer for Iowa Coalition against Domestic Violence since 1995, where she helps develop public policy and provides technical assistance and training to agencies that impact battered women and their children.
Hoops and Fences will provide participants the opportunity to develop awareness of how personal and agency values impact customer service, gain knowledge of how trauma impacts survival and relational skills, and expand strategies for responding to behaviors and moderating compassion fatigue.
The event is open to the community and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available to social workers. The cost for this event is $25, which includes lunch, training, and 3 CEUs. Confirm your attendance by March 20 2014 to Nancy Zachar Fett
, associate professor of social work at Loras College by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org
