Other Suggested Requirements for Admission: cumulative 2.5 GPA minimum, 40 -200 hours of direct work or volunteer experience in OT clinic BEFORE admission, a cadaver lab may be required in the anatomy course, CPR certification.

Specific Comments on This Program at Loras: This program at Loras is a 2 year general education plan (60 semester hours minimum). Students at Loras are encouraged to find jobs or volunteer at the OT clinics in Dubuque during the school year to satisfy the experience requirement. A shadow program for 1 credit is in place that allows a student to follow a therapist in the workplace to observe the job on site.

General Information About This Program AFTER Loras: After the two years minimum, the student will apply to the OT school of their choice to start a 2 yr professional training program at any of the specific occupational therapy schools listed above. Students with a 4 year degree are evaluated for admission competitively with all other candidates. Some schools award bachelor’s degrees in OT while others have bachelor’s and master’s degrees in OT available.
