The Division of Language & Literature offers the following minors that can round out a major in another field:

English: The English minor, 21 credits, provides excellent complementary study for a major in History, Spanish, or other Humanities programs, for those preparing for graduate study in the Humanities or Law, and for students in any major who wish to broaden their liberal arts college experience.  English can be an additional endorsement area for Secondary or Elementary Education as well.  Coursework is drawn from literature and writing.

Greek and Roman Studies: The Greek and Roman Studies minor, 18 credits, provides excellent complementary study for a major in English, History, Politics, Religious Studies, or other Humanities programs, for those preparing for graduate study in the Humanities or Law, and for students in any major who wish to broaden their liberal arts college experience.  Coursework for the minor can include study of the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations and mythology, Greek or Latin language, and some Religious Studies and Philosophy courses that focus on the ancient world.

Irish Studies:  The Irish Studies minor provides excellent complementary study for a major in English, Politics, International Studies, History or for students in any major who wish to broaden their liberal arts college experience.  Coursework is drawn from English, History, Communication Arts, and other liberal arts.  3-9 of the total credits derive from experiential learning. These may be accrued through the Loras College semester-study-abroad program at the Institute of Art, Design, and Technology at Dun Laoghaire, or through a J-term, or participation in a proposed summer research project and colloquium affiliated with IADT. more...

Publishing: The Publishing minor, 22-24 credits, includes coursework in writing, communication arts, computer technology, visual design, and a required internship.  This program, popularly combined with an English major but available to others, offers students professional preparation in ways that make use of their language abilities.  Up to six credits of the minor also count toward the English major.

Spanish: The Spanish minor, 18 credits, provides excellent complementary study for a major in Business, Criminal Justice, Economics, English, History, International Studies, Politics, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work, and for students in any major who wish to broaden their liberal arts college experience.  Spanish can be an additional endorsement area for Secondary or Elementary Education as well.  Students begin their studies at the appropriate level determined by a Placement exam; some advanced placement credits are available and applicable to the minor based on level of placement.  Study Abroad credits apply to the minor.

World Literature:  The World Literature minor, 18 credits, provides excellent complementary study for a major in English,  Spanish, International Studies, or History, and for students in any major who wish to broaden their liberal arts college experience.  Coursework is drawn from the literatures of Greek, Indian, Chinese, Arabian, European, Japanese, Native American, Latino American, Asian, Caribbean, and Canadian cultures, and more.  Coursework is offered in English translation, although Spanish-program literature courses apply to the minor as well.
