Internship Opportunities and Field Placement
The Loras College Department of Psychology offers its majors and minors the opportunity to have supervised training within area mental health and human service agencies. Students may choose from approximately 20 training sites, which deal with a wide range of clientele.
Students are supervised by on-site personnel, and receive 1-3 hours of academic credit, depending upon the time they wish to invest in the field experience. One hour of academic credit is given for every 50 hours of service time to the agency.
Students have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings with a wide range of clientele. Possible sites include hospitals, schools, mental health centers, and other human service agencies.
An Excellent Preparation for Career or Grad School!!
Field Experience provides a "hands-on" learning experience for psychology students interested in clinical , counseling, and other applied specialties within psychology. Many of our students have moved on from field experience to paying jobs within the same or similar agencies and programs. Field Experience also gives students the chance to experience different career possibilities.
