LORAS PLAYERS 2012-2013 SEASON

Being involved with the Loras Players is an extracurricular activity at Loras, which means "giving something extra" be it time, talent or interest. As a result, students from every department and discipline have contributed their time, talent and labor to the Loras Players.

After 25 years of service Mr. Zero is fired after he is replaced by a mechanical adding machine. After murdering his boss he begins a journey that ends in the afterlife, where he is given one last chance for romance and redemption. The New York Times called it, “A brilliant musical,” while Variety said it was, “a masterpiece of expressionism.”

GUILD OF ST. GENESIUS 24 HOUR THEATRE PROJECT
What could you create in 24 hours? Teams of students gather in the theatre and are given 24 hours to create an original, short, one act play. An evening of outstanding entertainment that gives us a glimpse into the creative mind.

Admission: Free, but we will be collecting donations for the local food bank. St. Joseph Auditorium

‘TIS THE SEASON
Join the members of The Guild of Saint Genesius when we celebrate Christmas with outstanding tales of the season as we recreate a “live” radio broadcast from the 1940s. Capture the spirit of the season and the joy of the holidays as you enjoy many classic Christmas stories such as “A Christmas Carol,” “The Night before Christmas,” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”

SCRATCH PLAY
What happens when you put 12 students in an empty theater for 3 weeks? Well, they start from scratch and create a uniquely original play. Our last “scratch play” was a huge success, so join us and see what we do this time.

BLACKLIGHT SHAKESPEARE
Adapted and written by Doug Donald
Take a number of Shakespeare’s monologues and sonnets; remove them from the context of the play; limit the actor to using their voice and specific visual elements – a mask, the hands, and a prop – under black light, and you will experience Shakespeare in a new and experimental context.
