Accounting

An accounting degree can prepare you to manage and report the financials of a business, organization or individual. You will study the components and techniques of the audit process, analyze financial statements, and apply accounting information and stratigies to management level and personal decisions. Accounting has been at Loras College since 1945 and is now a very respected major at Loras College.

The Business Administration division at Loras has become one of the largest and most popular divisions offering a variety of in-demand programs. Programs can easily be tailored to each student’s chosen emphasis.  All students take a common core of classes in addition to required courses for their specific major.  This core allows you to broaden your business knowledge, as well as helping you to gain knowledge in a particular area.

The 15 full-time faculty members take pride in advising their students through their college careers.  This close attention from the faculty also extends beyond graduation and has a lot to do with the 90+% placement rate.

There are a large number of internships and opportunities to test your knowledge against “real world” situations before graduation.  Leadership, resource and networking opportunities can be pursued in a number of active student organizations including:

  • Association of Computing Machinery (ACM)
  • Advertising and Marketing Association (AMA)
  • Financial Management Association (FMA)
  • Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)
  • Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Students benefit from a variety of programs, internship opportunities and faculty with solid experience.
