Pre-Professional Advising and Coursework

Loras College Pre-Professional Advising and Coursework provide the groundwork, experience and personalized guidance you will need for a successful transition into a professional post-graduate program in law or the health sciences.

Students interested in one of the pre-professional advising areas must declare a major and complete the degree requirements for the major and for the pre-professional area of study. Traditionally students interested in health sciences have chosen Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology (although other science majors can also work for you as well). Students preparing for law school may consider a major in English, Philosophy, Politics, History, etc. Increasingly law schools are interested in students with science backgrounds.

Acceptance into professional post-graduate programs is extremely competitive. Class sizes at Loras are small, permitting individualized instruction and advising. Available to you will be the hands-on experience, research opportunities, internships and technology you will find essential to gaining a competitive edge. Acceptance rates for Loras graduates seeking entrance into professional and graduate schools immediately following completion of their undergraduate degree is extremely high. In fact, in 2003, the acceptance rate of Loras graduates seeking entrance into medical school was 100%.

Completing your degree and pre-professional requirements in four years at Loras is possible. For more information on pre-professional advising areas contact the admissions office at admissions@loras.edu or sign up for a campus visit.
