Technology is a major component of the Loras experience. As part of our one-to-one mobile computing program, each full-time student receive a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop computer for academic and personal use, complete with software, an extensive wireless communication network and full technical support. However the mobile computing program provides more than just a laptop.

Our laptop campus does not end on campus. You can take your laptop everywhere. Whether you are studying abroad, on holiday break, taking a service trip, you name it...your laptop goes with you. This is a great way to stay in touch with family, friends and professors no matter where you are.  And don't worry, all laptops are insured and have warranty for your peace of mind!  By having your own laptop you will be a step above the competition when searching for a job. You will gain the skills you need to transition smoothly into the workplace. Many of our recent graduates find themselves much more proficient with technology than their peers who attended another school.   

All classrooms and common areas have wireless accessibility and all residence halls are equipped with wired network and Internet access, enabling you to communicate with other students, professors and the rest of the world. Not only does this mean easy access to the network, Internet and e-mail, but it also provides professors with endless possibilities for innovative classroom activities. Students engage in class debates through online discussions, produce websites exhibiting class studies and collaborate with students across the globe conducting similar research.

Students also have unlimited Help Desk support for general questions and on-campus repairs, network space, personal web pages, network printing. These luxuries are offered at very few other schools. Furthermore, students receive a new laptop every two years ensuring they will stay up-to-date with current technologies.
