DUBUQUE, Iowa – Loras College Dance Marathon earned second place and earned a $500 award from Crawford North’s Crawford Cares program. The award recognizes nonprofits with outstanding service for making a positive impact in the communities they serve.
To be eligible, nominees had to be Dubuque-area 501(c)3 organizations, have a board of directors and be nominated by a local resident. All nominees also had to serve local causes for the purpose of having a positive impact on the region. The organizations were also required to demonstrate that they were mission focused and operating on limited resources.
“Crawford really does care,” Jesse Coleman, a junior at Loras College and corporate fundraising chair of Loras College Dance Marathon. “Loras DM and the Dubuque area are lucky to have a company that is generous and supportive of local nonprofit organizations that help others in our community.”
Crawford North, Dubuque, is a division of Crawford Company. The business specializes in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, laser cutting, plumbing, specialty welded fabrication, custom architectural products, brewing equipment, Monoxivent systems, and Monoxivent FRP.
This year, 38 area nonprofits were nominated. Special Spaces Dubuque, an organization that makes dream bedrooms for children battling life threatening illnesses, earned first place and $1,500 and Research For The Kids, an organization dedicated to raising money for pediatric cancer research, earned third and $250.
The overall winner was announced and finalists recognized at the Crawford Cares Awards Ceremony on Dec. 6 at Crawford North.
