DUBUQUE, Iowa – Loras College will host its fourth annual Duhawk Day on Thursday, May 19. The 24-hour event pays tribute to a special place, 1450 Alta Vista St., that Duhawks have referred to as their “home away from home” for 177 years. Appropriately this year’s goal is 1,450 donors.
“Duhawk Day is focused on spirit and passion for Loras College, and last year the response was overwhelming. I am confident that we will achieve and surpass 1,450 donors this year while celebrating our newest group of Duhawk graduates, the Class of 2016,” said Mike Doyle (’91), vice president for institutional advancement. “Duhawks will be sharing their love for Loras and uniting at events around the world. Duhawk Day is a 24-hour effort focused on spirit and support. It has become a great tradition that is simply spectacular.”
Duhawk Day is an annual, worldwide celebration to welcome the newest group of alumni, unite Duhawks around the world and to share spirit, pride and support for Loras College. Last year, alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of Loras College surpassed the 1,450 donor goal by achieving 1,477 donors in 24 hours.
This year, to help achieve the 1,450 donor goal, Loras College is celebrating with 18 events across the country. On campus, Mass will be held at noon in Christ the King Chapel and a Duhawk Day Social will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Loras College Pub in the Alumni Campus Center (ACC).
All friends of the college are encouraged to get together, wear purple and gold and share photos and video from their celebrations using #DuhawkDay on social media or emailing email@example.com. Updates will be posted throughout the day on the Loras College Alumni Facebook Page.
