If it involves writing, we’re here to help!
The Writing Center, located in the Learning Commons in the library, offers one-on-one sessions with trained tutors to help Loras writers with their writing projects. Tutors work with students of all levels from across campus on every stage of the writing process: brainstorming, pre-writing, drafting, revision, and polishing.
Led by the director and staffed by peer tutors, the Writing Center assists Loras students in becoming more independent writers by focusing on the process of writing. Services include helping students with understanding an assignment, revising an initial draft, and editing a final draft. Support is provided for foundational critical thinking, close reading, and writing as well as strategies for advanced writing in the disciplines. In addition to the services provided in the Center, hands-on workshops provide specific writing strategy assistance, citation styles, writing process techniques, and approaches to revision.
Writing center representatives are also available to give brief presentations to classes and student groups about Writing Center services. Loras College students can access our online Writing Center appointment scheduler at http://loras.mywconline.com.
