  • Graduates and their guests are encouraged to sit together but we ask that there be 6 feet between family units in the pews.
  • Masks are required in the church.

Commencement exercises for the Class of 2020 will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. in the Rock Bowl Stadium on the Loras College campus. For those unable to secure a ticket, the ceremony may also be viewed online at

On the day of commencement, students report to Graber Center/Rohlman Hall by 1:15 p.m. to line up for the procession. Students wear full commencement apparel and have assigned seating. A seating chart/directions for lining up will be available to graduates prior to commencement practice.

The Commencement Ceremony will be a ticketed event. Each graduate will be issued tickets to be used for family/friend admission to the ceremony. We will collect tickets at the door. Exceptions to the ticket policy will be babies who are held on laps during the ceremony. A ticket will allow admission into the venue, where seating will be on a first-come basis. The sale of Commencement tickets is prohibited.

Doors will open for guests in the Rock Bowl Stadium at 12:30 p.m. Families/friends will be seated in the bleachers or in designated areas on the Rock Bowl stadium turf. Also seated on the turf will be graduates, faculty and staff, and honored guests participating in the ceremony. We will do our best to accommodate seating preferences, but due to a limited number of each type of seat we are unable to guarantee your preference of bleacher seat or chair on the Rock Bowl turf. Families will sit together in clusters of up to 4 people and will be separated by 6 feet of distance from other guests. Graduates will also be seated 6 feet apart.

Guests with a need for handicap-accessible seating should enter through the Rock Bowl gate on the driveway behind Hennessy Hall where handicap-accessible seating will be available on the main concourse behind the top row of bleachers. We will provide seating for one family member to stay with the individual needing accessible seating throughout the ceremony. Your comfort is important to us, so if you use an assistive device such as a walker or wheelchair, please feel free to bring it to the ceremony. An additional alternative for those with special seating needs would be to enter the Rock Bowl through the Duhawk Plaza gate located off of Loras Parkway, where you will be seated with your family members on the Rock Bowl turf.

For guests who were not able to secure a ticket, Commencement Ceremony live stream will also available for off campus viewing at

All parking lots on the Loras College campus will be open and parking is free. Safety Officers will be on hand to distribute campus maps and provide directions. Free parking is also available on Alta Vista Street and Loras Boulevard, except where posted as prohibited. The Hennessy Hall parking lot will be reserved for our guests in need of handicap-accessible parking, with a convenient drop off area between Hennessy Hall and the Rock Bowl Stadium.

If you are traveling to Dubuque and plan to stay overnight in the Dubuque area, we recommend that you call early to reserve a hotel room.
