Bringing CAATE 2020 Standards to Your Clinical Practice

Loras College is pleased to offer quarterly continuing education courses for certified athletic trainers and athletic training students in the tri-state region. These courses address practice gaps from CAATE 2020 standards to clinical practice and include courses across the following domains:

  • Injury and Illness Prevention and Wellness Promotion
  • Examination, Assessment, and Diagnosis
  • Immediate and Emergency Care
  • Therapeutic Intervention
  • Healthcare Administration and Professional Responsibility

Each course will have learning objectives, educational materials, and an assessment to verify student learning. Individuals will also have the opportunity to provide feedback about the course and offer suggestions for future course offerings.

The Athletic Training Continuing Education courses are $100 each for non-Loras affiliates and will be offered free to Loras College preceptors of the Master’s of Athletic Training Program.

REPUTATION OF EXCELLENCE

Loras College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The Loras College Athletic Training program is also accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Additionally, Loras is approved for Category A Continuing Education Units for Athletic Trainers through the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (BOC). The Loras College BOC Approved Provider number is P8553.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
There is no annual cost to participate in the continuing education program. Individuals who register for a single continuing education course may pay a fee based on the provider fee collected by the BOC. All participants in the program will be notified of the cost of the event at least 4 weeks prior to the event. Costs should be paid to the Loras College Athletic Training Continuing Education Program by the start of the course. At any point, a participant of the Loras College Athletic Training Continuing Education Program can cancel their participation in a course. If the individual chooses not to attend a course after having paid the fee, the course fee will be returned to the participant unless the course is to occur in less than 24 hours. A participant must inform Heidi Nelson, Director of Graduate and Continuing Education Programs, in writing of their request for cancellation. Funds will be returned within 2 weeks of the request. All requests should be sent to Heidi.nelson@loras.edu.

Grievance Policy & Procedure
Every attempt will be made to ensure that participants of the continuing education courses receive a quality learning experience in a respectful and safe environment. If any member has a complaint, this should be made in writing within 5 business days to Loras College, Director of Graduate and Continuing Education Programs, Heidi Nelson. All responses to any grievances will occur within 1 week. Responses will attempt to rectify any problems while remaining fair to all other members. If the member is unsatisfied with the response, they can receive a refund of their membership fee and withdraw their participation.
