With the Eucharist being the source and summit of the Catholic faith, daily mass is celebrated along with opportunities to partake in other sacraments.

Growing in knowledge and in prayer are vital components of an engaged faith life. Students will have opportunities to learn about Catholicism through Bible studies and faith sharing groups as well as through national conferences and speakers.

Retreats

Loras offers a variety of opportunities to grow in faith and friendship through one day or weekend retreats.

Antioch Retreat

Twice a year, a student-led team, organizes a three-day retreat to hear from other students about their faith journey, spend time in prayer, participate in conversations, and build community.

Other Retreats

One day opportunities for men or women to grow in friendship and faith.

A variety of other retreat opportunities are planned based on student interest.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

Whether you were never confirmed or simply interested in learning about the Catholic Church, this community gathers weekly to learn and faith-share together. Some choose to become Catholic or become confirmed in the Catholic Church, which occurs the Sunday after Easter in Christ the King Chapel.

Liturgical Ministries

Get involved with worship. Opportunities on Sunday’s and weekday celebrations of the Eucharist include:

  • Greeter: welcome people to Loras worship as a greeter
  • Lector: proclaim scripture readings
  • Eucharistic Minister: assist in distributing Holy Communion
  • Acolytes: serve in the sanctuary at the altar
  • Sacristan: prepare vessels, hosts, and wine for Eucharistic celebrations

Some, but not all of these ministries are open to people of any denomination.

Liturgical Music Ministry

Participate in vocal music, instrumental accompaniment, or leading the congregation in worship. Weekly rehearsals with availability one-hour prior to the weekend Eucharist. All instruments are welcome!
