There were a number of times throughout the course of the 2018-19 basketball season that the men’s and women’s basketball teams showed the potential to be an NCAA Tournament team. For the men, it was wins over Augustana and Nebraska Wesleyan, both of which were ranked No. 1 at the time of defeat by the Duhawks. For the women, it was a dazzling defensive performance over national power WashU and a midseason 11-game winning streak, the longest in program history. However, after losses in the conference tournament championship, both programs waited anxiously to hear their name called during Monday’s NCAA Selection Show. Indeed, both programs were one of the at-large selections in each bracket and learned of their destinations for this weekend’s games, the men to Naperville, Ill. and the women to Oshkosh, Wis.
