Why did you choose to come to Loras?
Loras was originally not my first choice. I actually transferred in the fall of 2015. I had a former high school teammate, Justin Giacotto (’16), who played for Loras at the time. He convinced me to transfer and it was the best decision I ever made. I will be forever grateful I ended up at Loras.
When it comes to your relationship with Loras College, what makes you proud to be a Duhawk?
I love the feeling you get when you visit campus. It feels like you never left, and all the memories start flooding back. Loras is truly a special place that I look forward to returning to year after year.
Who at Loras had the biggest impact so far on your life? How did he or she have such an
impact on you?
It is hard to narrow down this list. The person who first comes to mind is Head Men’s Soccer Coach Dan Rothert (’96). I learned so much from his ability to manage so many different personalities on a diverse soccer team. He taught me how to find a role and fulfill it to the fullest. All the lessons I have learned from coaches, faculty, and staff at Loras are helping me excel at my current position with the Rapids.
How has your Loras experience had an impact on who you are today?
Loras prepared me for so many different facets of my career. The one thing Loras taught me was to be a servant leader. In sales, I carry the mindset I am not there selling for my benefit, but for the benefit of others. It is amazing what happens when you flip that mindset and make it about others.
On Duhawk Day during your senior year, you made a generous gift to Loras. Why did you do it?
By giving all I can to Loras, the hope is that others will greatly benefit from all Loras has to offer. Supporting Loras is the least I can do to help grow the Duhawk community!
If you had a chance to visit with others about giving to Loras, what would you tell them to encourage them to give or to make a larger gift?
My experience participating in multiple sports in college, you see and hear so many different stories. The support of our donors is unreal. The impact of their giving is felt throughout the entire student community. If there are any alumni and friends reading this, your donations make a difference.
Thank you for all you do!
What are some of the ways you saw how the gifts of other Duhawk supporters helped students during your time as a student at Loras?
I have seen the sheer joy of students receiving scholarships allowing them to stay at Loras. It means so much to them, this is their home. It is an amazing feeling seeing someone be that passionate about your school. It fills you with pride to be a Duhawk!
