Early signs suggest an increased number of first-year students for the fall of 2018. One significant reason for optimism is the increased number of applications we’ve received. Looking more closely though, our admission office is keenly aware of the impact our alums have in recruiting future Duhawks. Through conversations with students who apply or visit campus, we often hear how family, friends, teachers, and so many other alums played a role in getting prospective students to take a closer look at Loras.
I want to thank each of you who have nudged (whether gently or not so gently) a high schooler to consider Loras College as a potential college destination, and I invite everyone to consider reaching out to a prospective student if you have not done so already. Each situation is different, so here are a few of the different “next steps” you could take:
- Encourage a student or family to visit campus. Feel free to direct them to www.loras.edu/visit or have them call our visit office at (800) 245-6727 or 563.588.7236.
- Encourage seniors in high school to apply by sending them to our apply page: www.loras.edu/apply
- Contact me directly with the name and any additional information that would assist us in our outreach.
Once again, thank you for everything you do and go Duhawks!
