Loras College Dance Marathon Plans 24-Hour Canning Event

DUBUQUE, Iowa – On Saturday, April 6, members from Loras College Dance Marathon will be present for 24 hours outside of the Locust Street Hy-Vee, collecting at-will donations to benefit the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Loras students will be on-site throughout the 24-hour period, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, continuing through 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 7.

Last year, Loras College Dance Marathon made a $500,000 commitment to fund Patient and Family-Centered services at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Some of these programs include child life program support, family suite housing and patient library materials/services. Standing in support of these programs, and in solidarity with the kids who are positively influenced by such programs, is an annual event held in late April. Since last year’s event, fundraising efforts “For the Kids” have been in place, concluding on Saturday, April 27, 2019.

During the event, a child from the Dubuque community who has been treated at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital will be honored by the students in attendance during each hour of the event.
