Couple’s Lifetime of Giving

Bob Roth and his wife Mary have been making annual gifts to Loras since shortly after graduation. Currently, their giving earns them membership in the prestigious St. Joseph Society, reserved for those whose giving to the Loras Fund annually exceeds $1,000 ($250 for alumni who have graduated within the last 10 years).

Bob graduated from the Loras Academy, and as he puts it, then “progressed up the hill to Loras College.” A member of the class of 1960, Bob has had a notable career as an attorney. He currently is a partner with Vincent, Roth, Toepfer and Leinen P.C. in Galena, after having previously served as the assistant state’s attorney for Jo Daviess County, Ill. and the assistant Illinois attorney general. Bob also has a long history of community service, including as a member of the board for the Galena Arts and Recreation Center and the Galena Hospital, as a lector and parish council member of St. Michael’s, Galena and as a member of the Galena Vision 2020 Selection Committee. In addition, he has provided pro bono legal expertise to numerous community organizations. In 2011 he was awarded the Loras College Distinguished Alumni Award for Contributions Made to Public Service.

In discussing their annual support, Bob said, “Loras College is a special place. It was special in 1960 and my appreciation for its significance in my life continues to grow. I am grateful for the Loras experience, for its mission in fostering Catholic doctrine in its graduates and its continuing pursuit of developing community leaders. Making an annual gift to Loras is a recognition of my appreciation and a commitment to assist in providing ongoing support.”

Bob and Mary’s faithful giving to the Loras Fund has supported thousands of students throughout the years. The Loras Fund supports every aspect of the College’s daily operations, including financial aid, academic support, student life, athletics, campus buildings and administration.
