Currently, 24 students are #interning through Loras College’s Center for Experiential Learning (CEL), including Jorge Ramirez-Artuz, a sophomore studying sport management. He’s at Union Dubuque FC, a new soccer club, scoring business relationships.
What does a typical day at your internship look like?
“The day is normally very flexible and I am usually in charge of finding sponsors and partnerships. A lot of that is making phone calls, sending emails, scheduling appointments with other organizations, and getting positive results.”
What do you hope to gain from your internship?
“I hope to gain as much experience as possible in the business field in order to see how agreements are reached between adults. Proper communication skills are needed in order for students to be successful later on in life. I also intend to do well on this internship in order to get positive feedback from my supervisor for future opportunities.”
“The fact that the internship is sports related, specifically soccer. It has always been my passion and I think I could do amazingly in that field. “
How did Loras prepare you for the internship?
“Loras College offers me a variety of opportunities when it comes to a job or internship search. They have multiple events throughout the year, as well as advisors around campus who provide you with connections and chances to demonstrate who you are. Loras wants its students to be successful.
