Three Loras students competed at the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. (FBLA-PBL) National Leadership Conference with two claiming top-ten finishes.
Darby Callahan (’20) placed sixth in the nation in Marketing Concepts and Jamie Engelke (’20) placed 10th in Retail Management. They were two out of only five students or teams from Iowa to place in the top 10 in the nation.
Callahan, Engelke and Brett Batkoff (’22) all represented Loras at the conference, which was held in San Antonio, Texas on June 24 – 27.
“Darby, Jamie, and Brett all performed very well at the state level, so it was great to see their hard work translate into success at the national level,” Allison Tringale, Ph.D., assistant professor of business administration. “The national leadership conference was a great opportunity for them to not only compete against some of the best business students in the country, but also network with and learn more from business leaders and other students alike.”
PBL is the collegiate division of FBLA. Its mission is to prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. The National Leadership Conference hosts students from across the country and is the organization’s signature event. Loras College is the only college/university in NE Iowa to offer students PBL as a co-curricular opportunity.
