Loras College Honors and Leaders Scholarship Competition
At Loras College it is a priority to make a college education more affordable. We also value the hard work and sacrifices that have led to the academic successes of our prospective students. Additionally, we understand that senior year can be an incredibly busy—especially for students who are excelling because they are also taking advantage of various leadership opportunities both inside and beyond the classroom. With all of this in mind, we have constructed our Honors and Leaders Scholarship Competition so students can compete for additional scholarships while also learning more about our Unique Honors Program and the wide variety of other leadership opportunities here at Loras College.

Essay Writing Component (students only)
Students will spend 45 minutes responding to one short essay question. No preparation is necessary. Students may bring their own laptop or utilize one of the college’s. If students prefer to handwrite their response, we will be able to accommodate this request as well. Students planning on bringing their own laptop should also bring a power cord.
This session allows participating students and their parents to attend short student-led sessions that will showcase how current students involved in specific organizations have personally and professionally grown through their work. Students and parents will have an opportunity to choose three of the six options. This will provide an opportunity for current Loras students to share how their involvement in a specific activity has stretched them and invited them to grow.
Interview (students only)
Each student will meet with an interview team for a twenty minute interview. Participating students will be put at ease and asked to reflect upon how they might contribute to and grow from the Loras experience.
This session allows participating students and their parents to learn about the Loras College Honors Program. All invited students are eligible to apply for the Honors Program. The program director and current students will conduct this session.
Parent Panel (parents & guardians only)
Parents will have the opportunity to hear from parents of current Loras students. The panel will provide plenty of time for questions and individual interaction. This session is hosted by Student Development.
