Professor Kathleen is working on the aspects of “Social Support and Adjustment of International Students during their Acculturation process in the USA.” In addition, she is working as a Clinical Mental Health clinician to get fully licensed in Iowa. Her research interests are based on social justice and advocacy. She has worked in several research areas such as multicultural and diversity in counseling; religiosity, and spirituality in counseling; immigrants and refugee populations in the USA; suicide amongst college students; suicide amongst the elderly population.

She teaches in both graduate and undergraduate programs. In the undergraduate program, she teaches Life Span Development and Positive Psychology. In the graduate program, she teaches Foundations of Counseling Skills, Research and Evaluation, Career and Lifestyle Development, Techniques of Psychotherapy, Human Growth and Development, Assessments, Diagnosis and Treatment, and Counseling Theories.
