At Loras, we seek to evaluate each student's potential, not simply as a collection of test scores or averages.
Our admission process was developed to help us assess your preparedness for the academic workload at Loras College. For students not yet ready for college-level work, we want to connect you with the supports, resources, and alternative options you need to help strengthen your ability to thrive at Loras.
Our analysis of first year college students has shown that cumulative high school GPA is the strongest predictor of college success. Our admission criteria are based on a student’s cumulative, weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale. GPA’s submitted on a different scale will be converted accordingly.
Based on your GPA, your admission criteria will vary:
If your GPA is 2.75 or higher, you will automatically be admitted to Loras College and will not be required to interview or provide additional documentation.
If your GPA is below 2.75, your file will automatically be placed under Director Review. Students under Director Review should expect:
- Our Director of Undergraduate Admission to reach out in order to schedule a time to talk about your academic readiness as well as potential resources to assist you with your transition to Loras College.
- To provide our Director of Undergraduate Admission with the names and contact information for two teachers that can serve as an academic reference for you. Please be sure to ask your teachers to serve as an academic reference prior to providing our Director with their contact information.
